Common questions

Is Nenapo available on Android?

Yes. Nenapo for Android 1.0.0 is available on Google Play.

What does Nenapo actually remember, and when does it start showing me things?

Nenapo learns three things from your shopping history: which store you usually buy an item from, roughly how often you buy it, and which items you tend to buy together. It only tells you any of these once it’s actually seen the pattern happen — a handful of real trips, not a guess after one purchase. Until then, you’ll see “Learning” instead of a suggestion. That’s not a bug — it’s Nenapo declining to guess. Keep shopping with it and the suggestions will appear once they’re earned.

Nenapo told me two items are “bought together” — how does it know that?

It’s not a guess or a favorite — Nenapo looked at your actual shopping trips and noticed the two items genuinely tend to show up together often enough to be a real pattern, and tells you exactly why, with a count (“Bought with Milk 6 times”). If a pair hasn’t shown up together enough times yet, Nenapo simply won’t mention it — it won’t offer a weaker version of the claim instead.

I made a mistake — can I fix it?

Yes. In History, swipe on any item from a past trip to correct it — fix the store, fix whether it was actually bought, or mark it as not actually purchased if you tapped the wrong thing. There’s also an “Exclude from learning” option for a purchase that was real but unusual (a one-off gift, a holiday-only item) and shouldn’t shape what Nenapo learns about your regular patterns — the purchase stays visible in your history, it just stops counting as evidence. Corrections always win: once you’ve told Nenapo something directly, it won’t quietly second-guess you later.

Why did Nenapo put an item in the wrong store?

Nenapo assigns a store once it’s seen you buy that item from the same place a few times — before that, it may guess based on your current store or default. If it gets one wrong, correct it once (either right when you add the item, or later from History) and that becomes the strongest signal Nenapo has — it will use your correction going forward rather than the pattern it inferred on its own.

How do I tell Nenapo which store an item is for?

A few phrasings work, whether you’re speaking or typing. “at” always names a store — “onion and flowers at Walmart.” “from” and “for” work too, but only when what follows exactly matches one of your saved stores — otherwise they’re left as ordinary words, so “cheese for pizza” won’t get filed under a store named “Pizza.” You can also lead with the store name and a colon (“Walmart: onion, flowers”), or add it in parentheses at the end (“milk (Costco)”). While you’re actively capturing, naming a store by itself (“Costco,” “at Indian Grocery”) sets the store for whatever you add next. If you want it to feel natural when spoken aloud, “onion and flowers at Walmart” is the clearest phrasing — Nenapo backfills the store to every item in the phrase either way.

Can I ask Nenapo questions in Search?

Yes. Nenapo understands a focused set of natural shopping-history questions, including “When did I last buy Milk?” and “Show my last Costco trip.” It also supports cadence and month-based history questions. This is deterministic shopping-memory search, not an open-ended AI assistant; other text still falls back to ordinary item search.

What can I ask Siri to do?

On Apple platforms, Nenapo provides Siri and Shortcuts actions for adding groceries, marking items bought, unavailable, or skipped, opening and starting store trips, completing a trip, and asking about recent purchases or items running low. Open Apple’s Shortcuts app and select Nenapo to browse the available actions.

I dismissed a suggestion by mistake — can I get it back?

Yes. Go to Settings → Hidden Suggestions and tap “Show again” on the one you want back. This is currently one item at a time — there’s no bulk “show everything” action yet.

Does Nenapo work without granting microphone access?

Yes. You can type every grocery item instead of speaking it — nothing else in the app depends on microphone or speech-recognition access.

What do the Location and Notifications rows in Settings do?

They’re shown ahead of features that aren’t built yet. In this version of Nenapo, neither permission is requested or used for anything — toggling them has no effect either way.

Does my data sync between my devices?

Nenapo does not provide account-based synchronization between separate phones or tablets. On Apple platforms, Nenapo can exchange the current shopping list and actions between an iPhone and its paired Apple Watch. The phone remains the authoritative store, and this paired-device transfer is not a shared household account.

Is there an Apple Watch app or Home Screen widgets?

Yes. On Apple platforms, Nenapo includes a paired Apple Watch companion for viewing active store lists, switching stores, adding items, updating item status, and finishing a trip. It also includes Home Screen widgets for shopping memory, stores, Add by Voice, and Start Shopping, plus privacy-safe Lock Screen count widgets.

How do I share or import a shopping list?

Open a store with needed items and tap Share List. Send or save the.nenapo file using the system Share Sheet. A recipient with Nenapo installed can open the file on iOS or Android, review the destination store and items, and confirm what to import. If that store does not exist yet, Nenapo creates it and adds the imported items there. This is a one-time copy, not a live shared list.

What languages does Nenapo support?

English only, for both typed and spoken input, in this version.

How do I delete my data?

Uninstalling Nenapo removes the data stored locally by the app. A list file you deliberately saved or sent through the system Share Sheet is a separate copy under your or the recipient’s control and is not managed by Nenapo after sharing.

Troubleshooting

Voice capture isn’t picking up what I say

First, check that Nenapo has microphone or speech-recognition access. On iPhone and iPad, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone, and separately Speech Recognition, and make sure Nenapo is allowed. On Android, go to Settings → Apps → Nenapo → Permissions → Microphone. If you’d rather not grant access at all, typing works exactly the same way — tap “or type” on the capture screen and every item, store assignment, and suggestion still works normally.

Nenapo split what I said into odd pieces (like “tomato sauce” becoming two separate items)

A small number of two-word grocery names can currently get split into their individual words when spoken. If this happens, just edit the items afterward — combine them back into one, or delete the extra — the same way you’d fix any typo. Typing the item instead of speaking it avoids this entirely if it keeps happening for something you buy often.

I marked the wrong item as bought, or marked something bought that I didn’t actually buy

Open History, find the trip, and swipe on the item to correct it — you can mark it “Not Actually Purchased” or fix its status directly. This doesn’t delete the record; it corrects it while keeping an honest trail of what happened, and Nenapo will use the correction instead of the mistake going forward.

The app feels stuck or won’t open

Try closing Nenapo fully and reopening it, then restarting your device if that doesn’t help. Make sure you’re on the latest version from the App Store or Google Play — check Settings → About inside the app for your current version. If it’s still stuck after that, email us (below) with your device model, operating system version, and app version and we’ll dig in.

My shopping history looks different than I expected

Nenapo does not sync shopping history between separate phones or tablets, so make sure you’re looking at the device you’ve been using. History on a second phone, tablet, or a reinstalled app starts empty unless restored by your operating-system backup. The Apple Watch companion displays current shopping state; completed history remains on the paired iPhone. If you’re on the right device and something still looks wrong, email us and describe what you expected to see.

Still stuck? Email support@mavyasa.com with your device model, operating system version, the Nenapo app version (Settings → About), and a quick description — or a screenshot — of what you expected versus what happened. That’s usually enough for us to track down what’s going on.
